History
Kramer’s Refinishing has grown into the largest family-owned refinishing business in the Inland Empire. It was established in 1945 by Henry Kramer, and his father, Harry. Katie Kramer, who is celebrating her 95th Birthday in May, also worked here for over 50 years, and the company would not be what it is today without her guidance and support. It is currently owned by Dennis Kramer, Henry’s Son.
In 2002, Wayne Kramer, the fourth generation of wood finishers, joined the company, and he enjoys working on unique and beautiful projects with his dad everyday.
Kramer’s is located just north of historic downtown Redlands on Stuart Avenue. The business was first located where the Redlands Mall now stands on Fourth St. for 11 years. During redevelopment of downtown Redlands, the company moved to Orange Street for 2 years, while the new building was being built.
Kramer’s Refinishing moved to its current location in 1989 after the redevelopment of downtown Redlands. The business has now been at 301 E. Stuart Avenue for 21 years.
Every generation of Kramer’s has developed new and innovative services to offer to the community. The business first started out as a paint shop where historic Brookside dairy trucks, local moving vans, and regular passenger cars were painted. Harry Kramer also had a talent for cabinetry and stain-glass window repair. In the 1960’s Henry Kramer taught himself how to refinish appliances, and painted them until he retired in 1972.
